Series 7 of the dramedy that chronicles the carnal escapades of novelist Hank Moody (David Duchovny) begins with Hank eager to reunite with Karen (Natascha McElhone), the love of his life, but things don't go quite as planned. Good news does come, however, when Hank is hired by the "Santa Monica Cop" showrunner to write for the new TV series. Of course, Hank doesn't exactly see eye-to-eye with his colleagues in the writers' room, which leads to bickering and resentment. But that's not Hank's biggest problem. A reporter named Levon (Oliver Cooper) interviews Hank for his college newspaper. But the young man is more interested in Hank's sex life than his career, and Hank soon learns why. Hank had sex with Levon's mother (Heather Graham) nine months before Levon was born.
